When we’re resilient, we’re able to bounce back and even thrive following adverse events. Research has shown that resilience is ordinary, not extraordinary. It involves behaviours, thoughts and actions that can be learned and developed in anyone.
In Lesson 1, we look at how, contrary to popular opinion, stress is not bad: We need to have experienced some adversity to build resilience. We look at research showing how some adversity leads to better life satisfaction and coping abilities and how it can protect our brain and cognitive functioning.
In this lesson, we look at how breaking down our goals into small tasks, and labelling or acceptance and reframing and help build resilience.
